This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Dakota.
• Conduct virtual and on-site investigations by visiting policyholders’ homes to assess property damage, establish liability, evaluate the extent of loss, and negotiate fair settlements.
• Utilize claims handling software, a company car, and a laptop to determine claims-related damage and create estimates in a paperless setting.
• Assess and report on potential subrogation opportunities.
• Report incidents of theft, fraud, or arson to the appropriate state and industry agencies.
• Execute duties autonomously, with work directly influencing management outcomes.
• Represent the company in public interactions, upholding a professional demeanor that aligns with management standards.
• Regularly engage with a diverse range of stakeholders, including policyholders, claimants, agents, witnesses, contractors, law enforcement, fraud and arson investigators, attorneys, medical professionals, and other pertinent parties.
• Apply strong customer service skills to negotiate settlements with policyholders.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned.
• Promote safety at all times and adhere to safety and ergonomic standards as outlined in relevant company manuals. Employees assigned to the Catastrophe team will be expected to travel away from their residence for a designated period, typically lasting 23 days. Although this role is not specifically CAT-related, hires should anticipate committing to 1–3 CAT deployments annually.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Outstanding customer service experience, preferably in a retail setting.
• Experience in construction or insurance is highly desirable and preferred.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Proficient in computer applications: MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Competent in using smartphones and applications.
• Eager to learn about insurance policies and property damage thoroughly to understand how coverage applies to specific losses.
• Outgoing personality that enjoys interacting with a diverse array of people, including policyholders, claimants, agents, witnesses, and fraud investigators.
• Valid driver's license and bondable. Final candidates will also undergo a Motor Vehicle Record background check, as this position may involve the use of a company vehicle.
