This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee the planning of intricate exploration initiatives and moderately scaled development projects across North America, including drilling operations, electromagnetic surveys, and reconnaissance activities.
• Manage 1–3 simultaneous projects of varying sizes, complexities, and jurisdictions, with responsibility for both planning and execution.
• Develop procurement strategies, including contractor selection, bid assessment, benchmarking, and contract management for North America-based initiatives.
• Create comprehensive project-level risk and hazard identification, conduct risk assessments, devise mitigation strategies, and implement critical controls, paying special attention to seasonal and terrain-specific construction conditions in North American operational areas.
• Facilitate project kick-off meetings with integrated teams and contractors, addressing scope, execution strategies, and risk management.
• Innovate field operations scenarios beyond traditional boundaries to foster efficient programs.
• Oversee the complete execution of assigned projects from mobilization to demobilization and closure.
• Provide robust leadership during fluctuating field conditions, including remote, seasonal, and extreme weather across diverse North American landscapes.
• Monitor and forecast production rates, expenditure profiles, and resource needs.
• Direct and manage all field operations, including contractor performance evaluation, feedback, and enhancements.
• Maintain daily communication and monitor the status of KoBold personnel and contractors in the field; ensure close collaboration with the Project Geologist, Project Data Scientist, and Senior Project Planner.
• Oversee site remediation and rehabilitation activities in compliance with applicable federal, state/provincial, and local regulatory standards.
• Conduct contractor performance reviews and capture lessons learned to promote continuous improvement.
• Ensure execution adheres to regulatory compliance, monitoring, and reporting in line with applicable U.S. federal and state or Canadian federal and provincial mining, environmental, and land use legislation, as well as the practices of our joint venture partners.
• Ensure all activities are conducted within relevant permitting processes, land access agreements, community relations, third-party contracts, and any joint venture stipulations.
• Represent KoBold Metals to local North American stakeholders, including communities, landowners, municipal authorities, Indigenous groups, and environmental entities, with leadership guidance and support.
• A minimum of 12 years of experience in field operations within mineral exploration and mining, oil and gas, or a related sector, demonstrating increasing levels of complexity and responsibility.
• In-depth knowledge of construction methodologies, including seasonal and terrain-specific construction relevant to North American operational environments.
• Advanced comprehension of helicopter-supported exploration, encompassing utilization optimization and emergency response considerations.
• Strong understanding of procurement processes, including RFP development, bid evaluation, and contract management.
• Comprehensive knowledge of reclamation, rehabilitation, and closure planning.
• Proven dedication to health and safety standards, including incident management, root cause analysis, and the implementation and verification of corrective actions.
• Strong conceptual understanding of HSE, Land and Permitting, Legal, and Business Development systems as they pertain to exploration projects.
• Capability to manage and supervise KoBold staff and contractors across all facets of field activities, including complex and higher-risk field programs.
• Ability to design intricate field programs that encompass scope, cost estimations, risk assessments, procurement, and project execution plans.
• Willingness to work in remote and isolated locations for extended periods across North American environments.
• High degree of independence and the ability to operate effectively with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency in spoken, written, and reading English; additional language skills (such as French) are advantageous.
• Valid First Aid Certification (Level 3 or Wilderness First Aid preferred).
