Fiber Designer I

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Works in collaboration with cross-functional teams to gather project requirements and specifications.

• Designs and plans fiber optic networks, taking into account capacity, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.

• Employs computer-aided design (CAD) and Vetro to develop detailed fiber network layouts.

• Manages the exporting and importing of data to CAD files, Vetro, and Google Earth.

• Utilizes ARC GIS for effective mapping.

• Creates comprehensive project documentation, which includes detailed design drawings, specifications, and material lists.

• Keeps abreast of industry standards and best practices to ensure compliance in fiber network design.

• Maintains current documentation and maps in line with field modifications.

• Troubleshoots and resolves design-related challenges, adjusting plans as needed to fulfill project objectives.

• Partners with construction and installation teams to offer technical support during the implementation phase.

• Guarantees adherence to project timelines and budget constraints.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be eligible for US employment without sponsorship.

• Minimum age of 18 years.

• A Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent education in a related field is preferred.

• Proficient communication skills in English, including speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension, necessary for effective job performance and workplace communication.

• Demonstrated experience in fiber optic network design within telecommunications is required.

• Proven experience in using CAD software for design purposes is essential.

• Strong understanding of fiber optic technologies, components, and industry standards is preferred.

• Familiarity with local and national regulations governing fiber optic network design is an advantage.

• One to three years of relevant experience is preferred.

• Capability to work with KMZ and KML files.

• Familiarity with Google Earth is a plus.
