This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.
• Ability to interpret medical record documentation for coding assignments related to each active session across various specialties. (i.e. Codes assigned by the provider are assessed and modified with the __approval__ of the provider)
• Codes between 60 and 100 sessions per shift. The number of lines per session may vary, thus “Coding Required” sessions are completed on a daily basis.
• Collaborates effectively within a team environment alongside providers, allied health staff, and business office personnel across the enterprise to ensure accurately coded 1500 claims.
• Evaluates high-risk encounters for precise charge capture and offers recommendations before transferring to second-level review work queues.
• Assists in modifying clinical documentation to ensure that captured information adequately reflects the level of service provided, paying particular attention to chronic conditions, hierarchical condition categories (HCC), and risk adjustment factors (RAF).
• Possesses a thorough understanding of billing complexities and integrates payer-specific trends into daily reviews to minimize “take backs” associated with unclear, non-specific, or unsubstantiated care provided.
• Expected to assist with crossover coding for any and all professional sessions (as assigned), utilizing reliable written methods that identify standard work requirements by session type.
• Engages directly with providers for clarification or to address gaps in documentation prior to submitting the session to assign the appropriate code(s) that correspond to the services rendered.
• Achieves production and accuracy goals (i.e. metrics) established annually.
• CPC, CCS-P, RHIA, or RHIT certification is required. CRC, CEMC certifications are preferred.
• 3-5 years of coding experience in ICU/Critical Care.
• Knowledge of Medical Terminology and Anatomy and Physiology is preferred.
• High School Diploma is required; Associate's degree is preferred.
