This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
• Oversee IGS's legislative and regulatory strategy for both wholesale and retail energy markets, as well as interstate natural gas and electric transmission.
• Formulate and implement advocacy strategies targeting FERC, PJM, federal agencies, and legislative bodies.
• Cultivate relationships with regulators, policymakers, legislators, industry organizations, utilities, pipelines, market operators, and other stakeholders.
• Act as IGS's representative in PJM stakeholder meetings, FERC proceedings, trade associations, and industry working groups.
• Collaborate with external legal counsel, consultants, lobbyists, and industry partners on advocacy efforts and regulatory submissions.
• Spearhead regulatory and legislative initiatives related to FERC, PJM, wholesale electricity, interstate natural gas, transmission policy, and federal energy matters.
• Track and summarize regulations, rulemakings, tariff modifications, technical conferences, and legislative changes.
• Create regulatory positions, comments, testimonies, white papers, and policy recommendations.
• Partner with Supply, Regulatory, Commercial, Legal, Trading, and Executive Leadership teams.
• Convert intricate regulatory developments into strategic action plans and business recommendations.
• Assist in aligning business operations with federal regulatory mandates and evolving market regulations.
• Identify emerging policy trends, regulatory risks, and strategic opportunities.
• Provide support to executive leadership through policy briefings, market intelligence, and strategic insights.
• A Bachelor's degree is required in Political Science, Public Policy, Economics, Energy, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of experience in legislative affairs, regulatory affairs, public policy, government relations, energy markets, or a related field; OR 5 years with a JD and directly applicable experience.
• Solid understanding of FERC jurisdiction, wholesale electricity markets, interstate natural gas regulations, and PJM market structure.
• Proficient in analyzing complex regulatory proceedings and translating technical concepts into actionable business insights.
• Exceptional written communication skills with experience in drafting regulatory comments, testimonies, position papers, or policy analyses.
• Capability to advocate effectively before regulators, policymakers, industry groups, and executive leadership.
• Experience in building relationships with regulators, market participants, utilities, policymakers, and trade organizations.
• Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to anticipate regulatory trends impacting competitive energy markets.
• Ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and build consensus among diverse business interests.
• Capacity to operate independently while managing multiple complex regulatory initiatives.
• Strong project management, research, organizational, and analytical abilities.
• Quick adaptability in a rapidly changing regulatory and legislative landscape.
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the US on a full-time basis.
• Current or future sponsorship is not available or supported.
• Preference for experience with FERC, PJM, RTO/ISO market structures, interstate natural gas, or wholesale electricity markets.
• Preference for experience representing organizations before federal regulatory agencies, legislative bodies, or industry organizations.
• Existing relationships with federal regulators, policymakers, industry associations, market participants, or energy stakeholders are highly desirable.
• Preference for experience in competitive retail and wholesale energy markets.
• Knowledge of natural gas transportation, pipeline regulation, capacity markets, energy trading, transmission planning, or market design is preferred.
• Experience with PJM stakeholder processes, FERC technical conferences, or federal rulemaking proceedings is preferred.
• Familiarity with federal and state legislative advocacy is preferred.
