Facility Emergency Department Coder

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Evaluates emergency room medical records to accurately assign ICD, CPT, and HCPCS codes.

• Achieves and surpasses both productivity and quality benchmarks.

• Assesses physician documentation and conducts audits to ensure accuracy as necessary.

• Updates charges (when required) and processes records promptly.

• Reviews tasks and makes code corrections as necessary.

• Offers training to colleagues to enhance coding results.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED is required, along with the completion of a coding certification program.

• An Associate's Degree in Health Information Management or a related field is preferred.

• A minimum of 3 years of ER coding experience in a hospital setting is required.

• Experience with ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and E/M coding is necessary.

• A coding credential from AHIMA/AAPC (such as RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CPC) is required.
