This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Accountable for evaluating medical records associated with outpatient or same-day surgical procedures and assigning the correct diagnostic and procedural codes (CPT and ICD-10) to guarantee precise billing and reimbursement.
• Implement relevant coding classification standards and guidelines to medical record documentation for accurate coding.
• Initiate necessary provider queries to address documentation discrepancies.
• Conduct quality assessments of records, including verification of medical record documentation.
• Examine appropriate charges and make modifications or recommendations based on the documentation.
• Tasked with investigating errors or omissions in medical records to ensure accurate coding processes.
• Abstract and allocate the appropriate ICD-10-CM and CPT codes for all diagnoses and procedures conducted in outpatient and surgical contexts as applicable.
• AHIMA/AAPC Credentials.
• Minimum of five years of auditing experience.
• Preferred experience in physician surgery coding.
• Must possess facility outpatient surgery and observation experience, ideally with exposure to observation hours, injections, anesthesia, and infusion code assignment.
• Ability to pass a coding assessment is required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Teams.
• Strong multi-tasking abilities along with excellent communication skills.
• Must achieve and maintain a quality accuracy rate of 95% and adhere to productivity standards.
• Must be adept at applying official coding guidelines, NCCI edits, CPT Assistants, and Coding Clinics.
• Experience working in a remote environment is essential.
