This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Formulate and execute policy strategies to meet the Conservancy’s natural climate solutions objectives.

• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to establish and advocate for policies that protect, restore, and enhance natural and working landscapes.

• Convert research insights into a practical policy agenda.

• Create an evidence-based and politically viable strategy.

• Foster coalitions and develop policy solutions.

• Propel the adoption of key policies at both federal and state levels.

• Partner with government entities, nonprofit organizations, and industry stakeholders.

• Oversee, direct, and manage various projects.

• Achieve strategic program objectives.

• Negotiate intricate, high-profile, or sensitive agreements.

• Articulate and present policy strategies and findings effectively.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in political science, climate studies, natural resource management, environmental policy, or a related field, along with 5 years of experience in policy analysis and government relations, or a comparable combination of education and experience.

• Must be a resident of the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

• Familiarity with public and private programs and incentives concerning carbon sequestration, forestry, and land use management.

• Understanding of carbon markets.

• Direct experience collaborating with partners, government agencies, and/or coalitions focused on forestry or natural climate solutions.

• Strong analytical and project management skills.

• Proven ability to successfully develop and execute complex projects in an unstructured setting.

• Experience in developing, directing, and managing multiple projects while achieving strategic program goals.

• Demonstrated ability to build relationships effectively.

• Proven experience negotiating intricate, high-profile, or sensitive agreements.

• Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

• Successful completion of The Nature Conservancy's background screening process.
