Expert Systems Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Lead intricate investigations into Citrix logon performance throughout all phases of the logon process.

• Examine customer logon data across various environments, subnets, users, and machines to identify root causes.

• Perform packet-level analysis using Wireshark for DNS, drive mapping, proxy/WPAD, and ICA session issues.

• Analyze patterns of errors in Azure Log Analytics and correlate them with logon timelines.

• Interpret data from Citrix Director, Logic Monitor, Power BI, and other sources to uncover systemic trends.

• Utilize AI tools to evaluate Citrix configuration data, policy exports, and knowledge articles.

• Act as the subject matter expert on Citrix VDA GPO configuration and policy standards.

• Identify misconfigurations in GPO, overlapping policies, legacy drift, and absent best-practice settings.

• Create and sustain libraries of GPO best practices and Citrix policy standards.

• Investigate proxy/WPAD challenges and analyze Optimus reports to facilitate remediation efforts.

• Enhance the optimization of FSLogix containers, profiles, HDX policies, double-hop architectures, StoreFront, and Workspace App utilization.

• Design and refine diagnostic playbooks, training materials, recorded sessions, runbooks, and lessons-learned libraries.

• Mentor Systems Engineers and conduct sessions for knowledge transfer.

• Develop or oversee PowerShell and Python automation for GPO auditing, data extraction, and comparison activities.

• Collaborate with internal tooling teams to implement AI-driven GPO audits and Citrix policy analysis functionalities.

• Within 60 days, evaluate the logon performance of priority customers, rank root causes, suggest remediation strategies, and deliver the initial iteration of the diagnostic playbook.

• Within 6 months, enhance customer logon times, propagate systemic improvements, and elevate team diagnostic capabilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of extensive, hands-on experience with Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (XenApp/XenDesktop), encompassing complex multi-site enterprise deployments, performance tuning, and advanced troubleshooting.

• Comprehensive understanding of the Citrix logon process along with key VDA and client-side metrics.

• In-depth knowledge of Windows Group Policy (GPO), including its design, troubleshooting, and optimization within Citrix VDA environments.

• Proficient in using Citrix Director for session analysis, breakdowns of logon phases, and real-time troubleshooting.

• Familiarity with Wireshark or comparable packet capture tools.

• Strong analytical abilities in correlating data from Power BI, Logic Monitor, Azure Log Analytics, event logs, and Citrix Director.

• Experience in documenting complex findings and developing actionable processes and runbooks.

• Background in mentoring junior engineers.

• Preferred qualifications include experience with FSLogix, Azure infrastructure, Citrix StoreFront, Citrix Workspace App, proxy/WPAD, Optimus/OptimistDB, PowerShell and/or Python, AI/LLM tools, CCE-V certification or equivalent, and knowledge of Healthcare IT/managed services, including double-hop Citrix architectures.
