Expert Animation Programmer – R&D

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Create, implement, and oversee sophisticated animation systems and tools that enhance generative models for lifelike character movement.

• Collaborate with machine learning researchers, engineers, animators, and game designers to establish and accomplish superior animation features and workflow enhancements.

• Optimize and troubleshoot animation code and systems for usability, performance, memory efficiency, and stability across various target platforms.

• Develop prototypes for new animation techniques, including procedural generation and physics-based systems.

• Guide junior programmers and participate in code reviews, ensuring adherence to high standards for code quality and documentation.

• Partner with lead engineers to strategize project milestones and deliver high-quality results on time.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in game programming, particularly concentrating on character animation systems.

• Strong command of C++ and experience with performance optimization.

• Comprehensive knowledge of real-time 3D animation principles, including kinematics (IK/FK) and rigging systems.

• Robust mathematical skills, especially in linear algebra and vector math.

• Experience with large-scale game engines, such as Unreal Engine, Unity, or proprietary engines (Unreal Engine preferred).

• Preferred: Familiarity with Motion Matching, procedural animation techniques, and physics simulation.

• Understanding of animation pipelines and DCC tools (Maya, Blender).

• Previous experience in shipping a AAA title.

• Knowledge of parallel programming and GPU optimization techniques (e.g., CUDA, compute shaders).
