This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Oversee and execute investigation and remediation projects, including in situ treatment for chlorinated solvents and emerging pollutants such as PFAS.
• Assist with waste containment and landfill engineering initiatives.
• Utilize sustainability tools to guide clients in making resilient and defensible decisions.
• Leverage engineering expertise to tackle innovative and complex environmental projects for a varied clientele in both private and public sectors.
• Conduct and manage contaminated site assessments and remedy evaluations, which includes developing investigation work plans, data analysis, feasibility studies, treatability studies, removal action work plans, remedy design, and implementation.
• Support solid waste and geoenvironmental engineering tasks, including landfill expansion studies, waste containment system design/analysis, and permitting assistance, in collaboration with geotechnical and environmental teams.
• Contribute to both conceptual and quantitative modeling initiatives.
• Manage pilot and bench-scale projects for soil, soil vapor, and groundwater technologies.
• Draft remediation action plans for soil, soil vapor, and groundwater remediation projects, which include drawings, engineering analyses and calculations, and technical specifications.
• Create technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, and proposals.
• Manage and mentor junior staff while overseeing subcontractors.
• Prepare for and engage in meetings with clients, regulatory officials, and other stakeholders.
• Operate personal, company, and rental vehicles to travel to client or company project sites, offices, and other business locations as necessary.
• Bachelor’s degree in environmental, civil, geotechnical, or chemical engineering. (required)
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or professional registration (P.E.), or the ability to obtain it within one year. (preferred)
• Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) certification. (preferred)
• A minimum of 5 years of direct experience in environmental consulting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
• Proven experience with environmental site assessments and remedial investigation/feasibility study (RI/FS) programs, including soil, soil gas/soil vapor, groundwater, and multimedia sampling and data analysis. (required)
• Familiarity with landfill design/permitting, waste containment systems, waste profiling, and/or solid waste regulatory programs. (preferred)
• Experience conducting or supporting ISO-compliant life cycle assessments (ISO 14040/14044), carbon/GHG accounting (Scope 1, 2, 3), and/or more extensive sustainability and resiliency evaluations. (preferred)
• Knowledge of in situ remediation technologies (e.g., enhanced in situ bioremediation, chemical oxidation/reduction) and/or contaminants such as chlorinated solvents, LNAPL/DNAPL, and PFAS; understanding of contaminant fate and transport concepts and modeling is advantageous. (preferred)
• Experience working with multi-disciplinary project teams. (required)
• Ability to produce clear, defensible technical reports and regulatory submissions; strong technical writing and QA/QC skills. (required)
• Capability to thrive in a fast-paced consulting environment, managing multiple project assignments, adhering to tight deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as necessary. (required)
• Outstanding writing and communication skills. (required)
• Active involvement in relevant professional organizations and/or local technical committees. (preferred)
• OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training (with current refreshers). (preferred)
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
