This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Lead and drive innovative program priorities for the organization, including those in our global offices located in the US, Germany, Jordan, and Lebanon.
• Serve as IRAP's representative in essential national and global policy discussions, thought-leadership initiatives, and funding networks related to refugees, migration, and immigration.
• Collaborate with the EVP of External Relations & Organizational Planning to cultivate relationships with new potential donors while maintaining existing donor relationships to diversify IRAP’s funding sources, ensuring resources for future innovative work.
• Align client services and systemic change initiatives, such as litigation and policy efforts, with innovative solutions to facilitate pathways to safety for displaced populations.
• Drive innovation within the ever-evolving field of refugee and migrant rights.
• Improve the scalability and accessibility of programming through diverse modalities to enhance the impact of IRAP’s core mission for a wider global audience.
• Play a critical role in shaping IRAP’s annual planning and budgeting for the Programs Division and the organization as a whole.
• Oversee the US, Europe, and SWANA program offices, including direct legal representation, policy advocacy, and litigation efforts in these regions.
• An advanced degree in law.
• Demonstrated experience in a senior leadership position within the nonprofit or international development sectors, particularly focusing on refugees and forcibly displaced individuals or other immigrant populations.
• Extensive background in innovative and transformative program leadership, including efforts for systemic change and brand/network building.
• A minimum of eight years of supervisory experience, including mentoring and developing leaders within an organization.
• Familiarity with impact litigation in the U.S. and/or European context, ideally with direct experience in one or both.
• Knowledge of international refugee protections as well as familiarity with at least one of the locations where IRAP operates: Jordan, Lebanon, Europe, or the United States.
• A proven history of successfully partnering with development teams to promote sustainable organizational growth through mission awareness, relationship-building, and donor engagement programs.
• A demonstrated ability to engage new donors and/or increase donations from existing supporters.
• Strong experience in strategic planning, budgeting, and execution.
• Knowledge of legal requirements and a strategic approach to sub-granting.
• Proven ability to manage and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Proficient in both written and verbal communication in English.
• A strong personal connection to IRAP’s mission and a deep understanding of the critical challenges faced by forcibly displaced populations.
• Application of an equity lens to all aspects of strategy, priority setting, team development, and community engagement, rooted in IRAP’s commitment to justice, equality, and its organizational values.
• Ability to translate complex legal concepts into compelling cases for support, enhancing IRAP’s brand visibility and opportunity development through effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills, with a knack for presenting IRAP’s strategic vision and programmatic impact to funders and other external audiences.
• Capability to analyze and act upon evidence-based approaches to strategic communications aimed at changing public narrative and opinion.
• Sound judgment, strong analytical skills, and decisiveness in addressing challenges and capitalizing on opportunities.
• Ability to quickly learn complex legal systems and protections effectively.
• Exceptional interpersonal, leadership, and management skills, particularly in the context of legal services/legal representation in the U.S. or Europe.
• Commitment to fostering the development of new and next-level leadership within the organization by promoting accountability, creating engagement opportunities on strategy and impact, and providing coaching and mentoring for effective decision-making.
