This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Lead the creation of high-quality, inclusive, and mission-driven events, including conferences, summits, roundtables, community meetups, program activities, and employee retreats.
• Manage the entire event planning lifecycle, from initial design and project planning to execution, closeout, and post-event evaluation.
• Supervise key elements of event planning such as venue selection, vendor coordination, contract negotiations, risk management, accessibility planning, on-site execution, and post-event debriefing.
• Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure events align with Venture for Canada's broader community, recruitment, funding, alumni, participant, and partnership objectives.
• Oversee, mentor, and assist direct reports, including team members specializing in logistics.
• 5+ years of experience in project management of complex events and gatherings, including large-scale conferences, revenue-generating events, summits, roundtables, meetups, retreats, or community assemblies.
• 5+ years of experience in people management.
• Proven experience in leading events from initial strategy and design through planning, execution, closeout, and post-event review.
• Experience managing cross-functional projects that involve multiple internal teams.
• Strong project management capabilities, including the ability to develop workback plans, project trackers, run-of-show documents, risk logs, decision logs, and other planning tools that help maintain organization in complex tasks.
• Solid experience in budget management, including estimating event costs, tracking expenses, managing budget-related risks, and identifying opportunities for cost savings.
• Experience in sourcing venues and negotiating with vendors.
• Background in supporting or leading community-building initiatives, convenings, or stakeholder engagement experiences.
• Professional proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and French is considered a significant asset for this position.
• Candidates must possess legal authorization to work in Canada at the time of application.
