This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Engage in a systematic review aimed at outlining the methodologies currently employed to assess drug consumption through wastewater samples; act as the primary liaison within the DOP for the team spearheading this initiative at the National Center for Environmental Health (NCEH).

• Function as the DOP representative for the Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) community focused on wastewater analysis for drug consumption; participate in all relevant meetings and relay discussions to OADS and personnel managing the Overdose Data to Action (OD2A) cooperative agreement; facilitate necessary synergies between state-funded OD2A staff and those involved in wastewater projects within the state.

• Aid APHL in formulating an ethical framework for wastewater analysis concerning drug consumption; attend meetings with APHL and act as a liaison with OADS.

• Support NCEH in establishing standards and methodologies; take part in meetings and potentially contribute to writing sections of technical guidance.

• Assist OADS with the comprehensive management of the wastewater project, including the development of key objectives, deliverables, timelines, and identifying responsible parties for completion.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Master’s degree is mandatory (preferably in public health or a related health field).

• Exceptional organizational abilities showcasing meticulous attention to detail and the capability to manage multiple priorities.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.

• Proven experience collaborating with various stakeholders, fostering strategic partnerships, and possessing strong interpersonal skills for effective teamwork and interaction with individuals across the CDC and external partners.

• A solid understanding of the design and execution of research and epidemiological studies.

• Experience in data analysis and literature synthesis.

• Demonstrated capacity to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

• Experience collaborating in a virtual setting with remote partners and teams.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and Zoom.

• Previous experience in drug overdose epidemiology, wastewater, or laboratory activities is preferred.

• Experience working directly with local and state health departments is preferred.

• Experience in developing technical guidance for health departments is preferred.
