Environmental & Social Impact Assessment Specialist – Sub-Saharan Africa

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Assist in conducting environmental and social risk evaluations for projects located in Sub-Saharan Africa

• Assess environmental and social impacts along with compliance procedures

• Track project performance and guarantee adherence to investment standards

• Evaluate the sufficiency of environmental and social documentation

• Develop gap analyses and action plans to ensure compliance

• Offer advice on environmental and social requirements to clients

• Perform site visits for environmental and social due diligence

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of five years’ experience in environmental and social impact assessments (ESIAs)

• Proficient in the application of the IFC Performance Standards

• At least five years’ experience working with Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) and/or the private sector in Sub-Saharan Africa

• Familiarity with conducting environmental and social impact assessments across diverse sectors

• Capability to interpret and implement international policies, laws, and regulations

• Knowledgeable in effective environmental and social management systems

• Strong ability to engage with representatives from governments, industry, and NGOs

• U.S. Citizenship is required; must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
