Environmental Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Oversee the execution of the Corporate Environmental Management System and guarantee its consistent application across designated sites.

• Collaborate with facility teams to uphold compliance with environmental laws, permits, and Conagra protocols; offer guidance on documentation, inspections, and regulatory standards.

• Recognize environmental risks and assist in the creation of action plans that focus on addressing and mitigating high-risk issues.

• Support environmental assessments, internal audits, and follow-up tasks to ensure that corrective actions are fulfilled.

• Offer operational assistance and troubleshooting for environmental control systems, such as wastewater treatment, waste reduction, and resource utilization programs.

• Aid in capital planning by identifying environmental requirements and coordinating with Corporate Engineering on compliance and sustainability needs for new initiatives.

• Contribute to sustainability efforts including waste minimization, energy and water conservation, and initiatives aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

• Design and deliver EMS and compliance-related training to site teams; mentor environmental personnel to enhance program execution.

• Relay program updates, risks, and performance metrics to plant leadership and the Senior Director of Environmental, Health & Safety.

• Disseminate best practices across facilities and take part in continuous improvement initiatives aligned with Conagra’s Performance System.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Biology, or Chemistry.

• 7+ years of experience in safety, health, environment, or engineering, with a minimum of 3 years managing multiple sites.

• Proven experience in engaging employees to implement environmental strategies across various platforms.

• Demonstrated ability to lead projects and present to all levels within the organization.

• Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations and their implications for the food industry.

• Willingness to travel 50%–60%.
