This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
• Perform comprehensive evaluations of environmental assessment documents and policies originating from federal, state, and local agencies to ascertain geographic scope and pinpoint potential effects on environmental justice communities.
• Leverage GIS software and geospatial mapping tools to visually depict and analyze data concerning pollutant and emission sources near marginalized communities.
• Collaborate with a diverse team to produce thorough reports that incorporate environmental justice and equity considerations into FERC processes.
• Compile final reports that evaluate the policies and practices of federal, state, and local agencies regarding geographic scope determinations related to impacts on environmental justice communities.
• Develop presentations to share findings, conclusions, and recommendations with stakeholders and decision-makers.
• Engage in staff briefings as necessary to offer expertise and insights pertaining to GIS and environmental data analysis.
• Proficient in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and geospatial mapping tools.
• Strong analytical and data interpretation abilities to evaluate environmental impacts on marginalized communities.
• Knowledge of environmental justice principles and experience working on projects that emphasize environmental equity.
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills to effectively convey complex technical information to varied audiences.
• Capable of working collaboratively within a team environment and contributing effectively to multidisciplinary projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, or a related discipline.
• At least 3 years of pertinent experience in GIS analysis, environmental data mapping, and environmental justice assessments.
• Previous experience collaborating with federal, state, or local agencies on environmental assessment projects is a plus.
• Proven expertise in conducting environmental impact assessments focused on communities of color, low-income communities, and other marginalized groups.
• Experience in the energy sector or with energy-related initiatives is advantageous.
• U.S. Citizenship Required - Candidates must be United States Citizens.
