This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.
• The Environmental Health and Safety Manager will play an essential role within the leadership team, tasked with overseeing environmental compliance, workplace safety, and EHS management during construction and commissioning across our facility operations.
• Monitor and ensure adherence to EPA, OSHA, state environmental agencies, and local regulations throughout all operational and construction activities.
• Develop and uphold environmental policies, procedures, and management plans concerning waste management, water usage, air quality, hazardous materials, and stormwater management.
• Coordinate applications and approvals for permits related to construction, air quality, water discharge, hazardous material handling, and waste management.
• Conduct assessments of environmental impact and compliance audits to guarantee adherence to regulations and achieve sustainability goals.
• Oversee the planning and implementation of spill prevention, control, and countermeasure (SPCC) strategies.
• Create, implement, and sustain comprehensive safety programs and policies for both operational facilities and active construction/commissioning sites.
• Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and hazard analyses to identify and mitigate potential workplace dangers.
• Organize and conduct safety training sessions, toolbox talks, and drills for employees and contractors.
• Maintain safety records, monitor metrics, and foster a culture of ongoing safety enhancement.
• Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to develop standard operating procedures that incorporate safety requirements.
• Act as the primary EHS liaison for Operations between Construction and Commissioning projects.
• Work with Project Management, Operations, and contractor teams to address EHS issues and ensure safe project execution between Operations and Construction.
• Ensure proper implementation and maintenance of environmental controls (dust, erosion, spill prevention) on active sites.
• Assist in EHS closeout verification for Operations and site demobilization efforts.
• Investigate workplace accidents, near misses, environmental incidents, and construction safety events; prepare comprehensive reports that include root cause analysis and preventive measures.
• Manage and maintain thorough EHS records, including safety audits, inspection reports, environmental compliance documents, and incident records.
• Ensure prompt and accurate reporting of incidents, accidents, and environmental concerns to internal leadership and regulatory agencies as required.
• Serve as the main point of contact for regulatory agencies and external stakeholders concerning safety and environmental issues.
• Lead the establishment, configuration, and deployment of the HSI EHS platform across the area — onboarding technicians and contractors, standardizing inspection and observation workflows, and driving adoption to ensure consistent field data capture that informs program-level trend analysis and reporting.
• Collaborate with operations and facilities teams to implement sustainability initiatives aimed at reducing environmental impact.
• Identify and advocate for opportunities related to energy efficiency, waste reduction, and carbon footprint minimization.
• Stay informed about industry standards, regulations, and best practices in EHS, construction safety, and sustainability.
• Monitor leading and lagging safety indicators; prepare reports and present findings to leadership.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
• Certifications: Professional certifications (CSP, CIH, CHST, OHST, or similar) are highly desirable.
• Experience: A minimum of 8-12 years in EHS management, including at least 3+ years supporting construction, commissioning, or capital projects in industrial or technical environments.
• Proven track record in developing and executing EHS programs and policies.
• Demonstrated experience in managing contractor safety and environmental compliance on multi-million dollar projects.
• Strong understanding of federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations.
• Familiarity with construction safety standards, project-specific safety planning, and commissioning activities.
