• Assists a U.S. Government organization in assessing environmental and social risks associated with projects in South and Southeast Asia.
• Performs evaluations, ensures compliance, and monitors project outcomes across a varied portfolio.
• Collaborates with the E&S Divisions to maintain uniformity in evaluating the environmental and social performance of DFC projects.
• Assesses the sufficiency of environmental and social documentation for projects and offers recommendations.
• Prepares gap analyses, drafts approval memos, and formulates action plans to adhere to assessment frameworks.
• Oversees the real environmental, social, health, and safety impacts of previously approved DFC projects by analyzing monitoring reports and conducting site visits.
• Coordinates with DFC E&S Division staff, Environment and Social Specialists from co-lenders, and/or consultants to perform project assessments.
• Minimum of five years of experience in performing or reviewing environmental and social impact assessments (ESIAs) as well as evaluating environmental and social management systems against international standards.
• Required experience in applying the IFC Performance Standards.
• Strong understanding of the principles, standards, and guidelines utilized in environmental and social impact assessments, particularly in developing countries globally.
• At least five years of experience collaborating with Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) and/or the private sector in Latin America, with fluency in both Spanish and English.
• Proven knowledge of the processes, techniques, and methodologies for conducting environmental and social impact assessments for proposed and ongoing projects across various sectors and countries.
• In-depth knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply international, foreign, and U.S. Government policies, laws, regulations, and standards essential for identifying and evaluating environmental and social impacts.
• Knowledgeable in effective environmental and social management systems, including policies, risk and impact identification, management programs, organizational capacity and competency, emergency preparedness and response, monitoring, stakeholder engagement, and grievance mechanisms.
• Capability to engage effectively with representatives from domestic and foreign governments, U.S. industry, and NGOs.
• U.S. Citizenship is required; must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
