This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.
• Directs the architecture for a designated business domain (e.g., Claims, Enrollment & Billing, Provider, UM/PA)
• Guides Agile PODs to create secure, scalable solutions that adhere to enterprise principles, HIPAA, and payer standards (EDI X12, FHIR)
• Drives the rationalization of applications and the adoption of reference patterns in Azure
• Converts business capabilities into a target state, transition architectures, and architecture runway (epics, NFRs)
• Develops solution blueprints (context/logical/data/integration diagrams) and assists in threat modeling, privacy, and resilience
• Implements API-first and event-driven patterns (Azure API Management, Kafka), integrating with key platforms (e.g., Facets, TruCare, Salesforce, EHR interfaces)
• Aids in application rationalization utilizing APM tools (e.g., LeanIX, Ardooq); documents TCO, redundancy, and disposition (tolerate, invest, migrate, retire)
• Ensures designs comply with privacy & security (HIPAA, least privilege, tokenization, encryption), resilience, observability, and cost targets
• Participates in architecture governance (ARB), standards (naming, versioning, FHIR profiles), and best practices in DevSecOps
• Encourages AI literacy—adopts approved patterns (prompt management, RAG, PHI redaction, human review) with Responsible AI controls
• Collaborates with stakeholders to enhance workflow and minimize rework during sprints/PI planning
• 5-10 years of experience in IT
• 2-5+ years in solution/enterprise architecture
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
• Proficient with Azure (App Services, Functions, AKS, API Management, Event Grid), Kafka, REST/FHIR/GraphQL/SOAP; SQL Server/Oracle
• Experience in the healthcare payer sector in at least one domain; familiarity with Facets or similar core administrative systems
• Understanding of HIPAA, EDI (270/271, 278, 835/837), CMS interoperability
• Knowledge of TOGAF/ArchiMate is preferred
