
English to Turkish – Translator, Editor – Legal

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Accurately translate, edit documents, and/or transcribe audio files related to law enforcement and legal topics from English to Turkish.
• If applicable, revise audio transcriptions that contain slang and idiomatic expressions.
• Edit legal documents, including affidavits and depositions, while showcasing a strong understanding of legal terminology in both English and the target language.
• Demonstrate excellent written communication abilities in both English and the target foreign language, achieving Advanced Proficiency (reading/speaking/listening, writing) level 3-plus in English and the foreign target language, as measured by the International Language Roundtable (ILR) scale.
• Translate, edit, and/or transcribe in accordance with the government client’s style guides and quality standards.
• Employ domain-specific terminology.
• Review and certify the quality of other translators’ work, as necessary.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in legal documentation, translating, and/or editing between English and a foreign language.
• If applicable, at least 1 year of experience in audio transcription, with the ability to utilize software for sound enhancement and equipment to assist in transcription.
• Familiar with legal terminology in both English and the target foreign language(s).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Translators and editors must be adept at using CAT tools, such as Trados.
• Status as a professional freelance linguist.
