This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Oversee engineering analysis initiatives that support Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) fuel, safety, services, and thermal-hydraulic analyses across various applications.
• Provide daily management of development and delivery activities, encompassing schedule upkeep, delivery meetings, and execution support to guarantee the successful implementation of updated engineering services systems.
• Collaborate with Technical Leaders and Controlled Title Holders to devise solutions for complex technical challenges related to the design, licensing, operation, and monitoring of customer fuel cycles.
• Create flexible, future-oriented solutions that assist engineers and adapt to changing digital engineering requirements.
• Offer technical mentorship and promote knowledge sharing to aid in the development and knowledge management of engineering staff.
• Oversee all facets of assigned projects, including scope, schedule, budget, risk, quality, and resource planning.
• Lead project teams with strategic oversight to ensure timely delivery within established budget constraints.
• Identify, evaluate, and manage project risks and issues, implementing mitigation strategies as necessary.
• Track project performance, monitor KPIs, and communicate progress to stakeholders and clients.
• Proactively address variances to ensure project health and meet delivery commitments.
• Cultivate specialized knowledge in nuclear energy and stay informed about technical advancements in the field.
• Leverage technical expertise and data analysis to inform project decisions and recommendations.
• Foster consensus, influence stakeholders in a matrixed organization, and mentor project team members as required.
• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited university or college; OR 4 years of relevant hands-on experience in the nuclear industry, such as Senior Reactor Operator or Navy Nuclear experience, will also be accepted.
• At least 8 years of engineering experience, with a minimum of 5 years in the nuclear industry and/or project delivery experience.
• A Master’s degree in engineering or Senior Reactor Operator certification is preferred.
• Graduate of a GE Vernova technical or leadership program is preferred.
• Experience with BWR core simulation and thermal-hydraulic system codes is preferred.
• Familiarity with BWR containment, Fire Safe Shutdown, Annulus Pressurization Loads, and other safety analyses is preferred.
• Understanding of BWR systems and methods for evaluating integrated plant responses is preferred.
• Knowledge of core nuclear engineering principles, including nuclear physics, thermal hydraulics, and mechanical design as they pertain to BWRs, is preferred.
• Experience with standard engineering work planning and design process techniques is preferred.
• Proven experience supervising or overseeing contractors in project environments is preferred.
• A demonstrated history of managing complex projects is preferred.
• Strong problem-solving capabilities and sound decision-making skills in complicated situations are preferred.
• Experience working efficiently in a matrixed environment is preferred.
