Engineering Tech Lead, AI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania.

📋 Description

• Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Frontend Engineers, Designers, and QA specialists to comprehend requirements, define feature scopes, and craft seamless user experiences.

• Take charge of technical decisions that enhance team efficiency, ensuring the right tools and strategies are utilized across the company.

• Leverage AI coding tools like Claude to expedite feature development by generating code, managing boilerplate, and creating scaffolding. Critically review all AI-generated code before deployment.

• Design, develop, and launch AI products, workflows, and agents.

• Contribute your technical expertise throughout every phase of the Software Development Lifecycle, from discovery to deployment, including architectural choices, design feedback, and deployment strategies.

• Work collaboratively to create robust new features, APIs, databases, and infrastructure. Quickly identify and resolve bugs while maintaining high-quality standards at Deel Speed.

• Take full ownership of features from design through to deployment, testing, monitoring, and iteration. You ensure that projects are seen through to completion without handoffs.

• Maintain high-quality products and services through quality engineering, comprehensive testing, and attentive, customer-focused development.

• Keep open lines of communication with cross-functional teams, elucidating technical constraints to non-technical stakeholders, translating requirements into actionable solutions, and ensuring alignment across the board.

• Remove obstacles for teams by providing clear answers to questions, swiftly debugging issues, and offering solutions to ambiguous challenges.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of experience as a Backend/Software Engineer, with a proven track record of shipping real AI products, features, debugging production issues, and considering scalability.

• At least 2 years of experience in a Tech Lead or Senior role.

• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication abilities.

• Proficiency in NodeJS or Python, with a knack for writing clean, maintainable code. You are well-versed in patterns, conventions, and best practices, with syntax being second nature.

• Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL fundamentals, particularly adept in PostgreSQL and ORM libraries (like Sequelize, TypeORM, or similar). Capable of writing queries, optimizing performance, and designing schemas purposefully.

• Proven experience in delivering real products with Claude. You have effectively utilized AI to enhance development and have launched features that operate in production. You know how to prompt efficiently, assess AI-generated code critically, and determine when to employ AI versus manual coding.

• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal. You can clearly explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and produce clear documentation, code comments, and Slack updates. You ask insightful questions and proactively share context. You are skilled in remote collaboration, thriving in asynchronous communication, and effectively communicating status, blockers, and decisions while having experience in distributed teams.
