This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.
• Overseeing a compact product team of 3-5 engineers, encompassing both backend and frontend roles.
• Allocating 30% of the time to management tasks, while actively engaging in product development within the team.
• Participating in the recruitment processes for their own team and potentially assisting colleagues in similar efforts.
• Taking responsibility for the onboarding process of new engineers, in addition to involvement in hiring.
• Acting as the representative for the team, managing team dynamics and fostering individual strengths.
• Providing ongoing and constructive feedback across various aspects.
• Supporting the team's continuous growth as a cohesive unit and being accountable for each direct report's career progression.
• Offering guidance and coaching to the team members.
• Redefining how engineering tasks are executed with autonomous agents as the standard execution layer.
• Proposing and implementing agentic workflows from end-to-end (spec → plan → execute → verify) to accelerate outcomes.
• Developing reusable agentic workflows and primitives within the codebase for teams to apply consistently across different domains.
• Employing verification loops (tests, checks, evaluations, guardrails) to ensure results are accurate, secure, reliable, and scalable.
• Experience managing an engineering team of at least 2 individuals.
• Extensive background in Backend (Elixir/Phoenix, Ruby, or functional programming).
• Dedication to upholding all of Remote's values within the team and the broader organization.
• Strong engineering fundamentals with a proven history of delivering secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
• Practical experience in designing or adopting agentic/automation workflows (or similar systems) and enhancing them through iteration.
• Capability to think systemically: define specifications clearly, break down plans, implement verification, and complete the quality loop.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Comprehensive knowledge of engineering and development principles along with best practices.
• Proven organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Focus on efficient processes while maintaining a kind, people-first approach.
• Ability to motivate others and instill confidence.
• Strong understanding of team dynamics.

• Demonstrates strong capabilities in automation and AI, with fluency in AI concepts.
