This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.
• Lead the growth and development of the engineering organization.
• Assist in recruiting top-tier Engineers to facilitate team expansion.
• Provide mentorship and collaborate with team members to help them achieve their career aspirations.
• Implement processes that maintain a high-performing engineering team.
• Enhance the engineering roadmap, drive operational excellence, and establish a technology strategy for your team.
• Manage a team of Engineers, ensuring quality execution, timely delivery, impactful contributions, and professional development.
• Act as a mentor and advisor, offering coaching and feedback to elevate the skills of your team members.
• Take charge of the quality of execution, timely delivery, processes, impact, and both personal and professional growth for a single team.
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers to define product investment, ensuring alignment between product plans, team capacity, technical realities, and your team's growth and structure.
• Partner with other engineering managers, product management, recruiting, and the broader engineering community to promote team growth, retention, and hiring initiatives.
• Have a significant impact on Anchorage's projects and personnel, taking responsibility for team growth planning, recruitment, and performance management of Engineers.
• Proven experience in managing, mentoring, and developing a geographically distributed team.
• Demonstrated expertise in creating robust, high-performance complex distributed applications, with a passion for solving challenging architectural issues and collaborating with skilled engineers to deliver meaningful solutions.
• Enjoy building services from the ground up and providing support over an extended period.
• Have a genuine concern for code quality and test infrastructure.
• Focus on end-user experience and business value rather than merely “cool tech.”
• Possess a foundation in “computer science fundamentals,” such as concurrency, algorithms, and data structures (Formal CS degree NOT required).
• Self-identify as a combination of creative, humble, ambitious, detail-oriented, hardworking, trustworthy, eager to learn, methodical, action-oriented, and tenacious.
• Experience in implementing effective regulatory compliance controls within the financial services sector.
• View the term “crypto” as synonymous with cryptography, not cryptocurrency.
• Enjoy reading blockchain protocol white papers for leisure and keep abreast of developments in cryptoasset innovations.
• Have a background in the finance industry.
• Professional experience with Go/Rust/TypeScript/Solidity.
• Familiarity with optimistic and zero-knowledge technologies.
• While our primary language is Go, we prioritize your engineering and management capabilities over specific languages or frameworks.
