This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.
• Lead and develop multiple engineering teams within the Payments sector.
• Take ownership of engineering delivery across payments infrastructure and platform functionalities.
• Ensure the reliability and uptime of systems responsible for financial transactions.
• Be responsible for financial accuracy at the systems level (e.g., consistency, reconciliation, and failure management).
• Drive architectural coherence and the long-term advancement of payment systems.
• Establish engineering benchmarks for scalability, observability, testing, and resilience.
• Enhance operational maturity, incident management, and excellence in production.
• Collaborate closely with Banking, Compliance, Risk, and Finance teams regarding regulatory and operational obligations.
• Work with Product teams on prioritization and implementation, while ensuring clear engineering ownership.
• Cultivate a robust engineering culture characterized by high ownership and accountability.
• Mentor engineering leads and senior engineers.
• Drive recruitment and scaling of the organization as the payments business expands.
• Balance execution speed with system reliability, accuracy, and compliance requirements.
• 7+ years of experience in software engineering.
• 3+ years of experience managing engineering teams in fintech or high-scale distributed systems.
• Extensive experience with payments, banking infrastructure, acquiring, remittance, wallets, or financial platforms.
• Proven history of leading teams that operate mission-critical systems.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, APIs, integrations, and transactional architectures.
• Experience in building systems with high availability and reliability standards.
• Capability to design systems that effectively manage failures, retries, and eventual consistency.
• Familiarity with regulated environments and financial compliance standards.
• Strong foundations in engineering management: delivery, team development, hiring, and performance oversight.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
