This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands.
• Recruit, mentor, and nurture a high-performing team; establish clear expectations and promote a culture of ownership, agility, and continuous enhancement.
• Guide engineers across all levels, facilitate growth opportunities, and cultivate a psychologically safe and inclusive environment where engineers can excel.
• Develop the product and execution strategy for language clients to ensure we remain ahead of a tenfold growth trajectory.
• Make decisive architectural choices while upholding a customer-centric, rapid-delivery culture.
• Set quantifiable UX and developer experience standards and take responsibility for the roadmap to ensure ClickHouse client libraries are top-tier in the OLAP sector.
• Lead the growth from core client libraries into a wider ecosystem: integrations, SDKs, partner tools, and community-developed extensions.
• Establish and maintain effective partnerships with OSS communities: contribute, build rapport, and gain trust within public technical domains.
• Represent ClickHouse at conferences, in community discussions, and with partners.
• Cultivate productive relationships with product management, developer relations, and sales engineering while maintaining engineering focus.
• Over 3 years of experience managing software engineers with a proven history of hiring, developing, and retaining exceptional talent.
• Proven ability to develop engineers into senior contributors and future leaders.
• Proficient in driving execution in uncertain environments: setting precise priorities and delivering results without excessive processes.
• Startup experience is desirable.
• More than 10 years of industry experience in developing developer-facing tools, open-source software, or data-intensive systems.
• Hands-on approach: you engage with technical designs, conduct code reviews, and provide guidance through technical feedback.
• Strong interest in remaining at the forefront of technology - actively tracks trends in developer tools, data, and the open-source landscape.
• Experience in collaborating with open-source communities and establishing trust in public technical environments.
• Proven track record in external representation: speaking engagements, blog contributions, community involvement, or partner development.
• Strong product ownership skills - able to set strategic direction rather than merely executing it.
• Customer-focused: transforms developer feedback into actionable roadmaps and delivers swiftly with efficient feedback loops.
