Engineering Manager, Cloud Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Czechia.

📋 Description

• Oversee the architecture, performance, and scalability of a Node.js-based platform primarily operating on AWS.

• Ensure that architectural choices maintain portability across GCP, Azure, and other cloud service providers.

• Drive the technical vision of the platform, mentor senior engineers, and collaborate with product and engineering leadership.

• Manage a team of 10–15 developers by setting objectives, conducting one-on-ones, fostering career growth, recruiting, and eliminating obstacles.

• Balance the delivery of the roadmap with engineering health, focusing on code quality, system reliability, on-call practices, and developer experience.

⛳️ Requirements

• More than 8 years of software engineering experience, including over 3 years in leadership roles within engineering teams.

• Extensive expertise in architecting distributed systems on AWS, covering compute, networking, data, IAM, and observability.

• Strong foundation in Node.js with a clear perspective on developing maintainable services at scale.

• Experience in designing platform-agnostic systems capable of operating on any major hyperscaler.

• Proven history of enhancing performance, scalability, and deployment speed in production environments.

• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, hire effectively, and lead a team that consistently delivers results.

• **Nice to have**

• Familiarity with multi-cloud or cloud-portable deployments, including Kubernetes, Terraform, and containerization.

• Experience in scaling SaaS platforms or products targeted at developers.

• AWS certifications such as Solutions Architect Professional or DevOps Engineer.
