Engineering Manager – Billing Unit

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Serbia.

📋 Description

• Lead a dedicated backend engineering team of approximately 5 engineers focused on the Billing domain.

• Take ownership of the Billing Platform's delivery, which includes core billing orchestration logic and advanced routing capabilities for financial operations.

• Manage the delivery and ongoing development of the Statistics service, encompassing video tracking, calculations for premium views, trending metrics (videos/photos/actors/channels), and creator analytics (views, watch time, likes, premium seconds viewed).

• Oversee the delivery and enhancement of the Affiliates service, which includes affiliate attribution/tracking and the export of video feeds with affiliate link parameters.

• Maintain responsibility for the premium budget calculation and its distribution to creators, including creator income per video.

• Handle creator invoicing, payouts, and reconciliation processes.

• Manage the internal contractor invoice generation process, with payouts executed by accountants.

• Drive the design and evolution of payment and billing workflows, ensuring correctness, idempotency, consistency, and fault tolerance throughout.

• Collaborate closely with the Product Manager and Tech Lead to translate fintech requirements into well-defined technical plans and realistic delivery roadmaps.

• Ensure execution predictability for the team through effective sprint planning, delivery commitments, scope management, and quarterly planning.

• Establish and uphold engineering processes that facilitate reliable delivery, including code reviews, incident management, retrospectives, and post-mortems.

• Maintain high standards for the quality of financial systems, focusing on auditability, traceability, and data accuracy.

• Foster a strong engineering culture centered on ownership, accountability, and meticulousness in fintech systems.

• Provide clear and structured updates on progress, risks, and priorities to Engineering Leadership.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of engineering management experience leading backend teams of 5 or more engineers.

• A solid background in backend engineering with a deep understanding of distributed systems and architectural trade-offs.

• Experience working with financial systems, billing systems, payment flows, or transactional platforms is essential.

• Familiarity with analytics/statistics pipelines and/or domains related to creator monetization (e.g., attribution, revenue sharing, payouts, invoicing) is highly desirable.

• Demonstrated ability to lead teams in delivering mission-critical, high-reliability systems.

• Strong comprehension of Agile/Scrum methodologies and engineering execution practices.

• Ability to assess technical decisions and challenge architectural choices when necessary.

• Excellent communication skills with the capability to align engineering, product, and leadership stakeholders effectively.

• Proficiency in English at a B2 level or higher.
