This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 6–12 software engineers across frontend, backend, and platform, while promoting a culture of craftsmanship, accountability, and psychological safety.
• Take ownership of the engineering delivery pipeline, including sprint planning, roadmap alignment, dependency mapping, and stakeholder communication, to ensure commitments are fulfilled without exhausting the team.
• Collaborate closely with product, design, and data teams to convert intricate financial workflows into well-defined engineering challenges, and then translate them back into refined product experiences.
• Drive the hiring process: sourcing, assessing, and onboarding outstanding engineers who elevate the team's overall performance.
• Establish and advocate for engineering best practices, including code review standards, testing culture, incident response, on-call health, and documentation quality.
• Identify and address bottlenecks in architecture, processes, or team dynamics, while clearly escalating technical risks and proposing actionable solutions.
• Conduct regular one-on-ones, performance evaluations, and career development discussions that foster growth and engagement among your engineers.
• Represent the engineering team in cross-functional leadership forums, bridging the gap between technical feasibility and business requirements.
• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with a minimum of 2 years in an engineering management or tech lead position at a product-oriented company.
• Hands-on experience in backend or full-stack development, with a solid understanding of system design trade-offs and the ability to engage credibly in technical discussions.
• Proven history of developing engineers, managing performance challenges, and building teams that consistently deliver quality software under pressure.
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced startup environment, with the ability to balance rapid execution with the development of scalable systems, knowing when to prioritize each.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills — from design documents to board updates, tailoring your message for each audience.
• Experience in fintech, capital markets, or enterprise SaaS is beneficial. Familiarity with Java, TypeScript, or modern cloud-native stacks is an advantage.
