Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.

📋 Description

• Oversee one of our feature squads in the role of Engineering Manager.

• Accountable for the architecture, technical decision-making, and the quality of all outputs from the squad.

• Lead a compact team of 4 to 5 Software Engineers.

• Collaborate closely with a Product Manager and a UX Designer to transform business challenges into deliverable, measurable results.

• Maintain visibility and budgeting for technical debt.

• Promote engineering standards across testing, code quality, security, CI/CD, observability, and release processes.

• Take ownership of the technical design for the squad’s products and features.

• Assess new AI tools in a pragmatic manner.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on software engineering experience in production settings, including at least 2 years in a Tech Lead or Engineering Manager position where you continued to write and review code.

• Proficient backend experience with Java or similar JVM/typed backend stacks (Kotlin, C#, Go, TypeScript/Node).

• Strong understanding of backend architectures, REST/GraphQL APIs, asynchronous messaging, and third-party integrations.

• Solid frontend expertise with contemporary frameworks (Angular, React, TypeScript).

• Extensive experience with AWS (EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, CloudFormation, IAM) and cloud-native architectures.

• Familiarity with observability (logs, metrics, traces) and CI/CD pipelines as a primary focus.

• Experience in designing and evolving distributed systems: service boundaries, data consistency, idempotency, failure handling, and performance at scale.

• Strong foundation in testing (unit, integration, contract, end-to-end), code quality, and security principles (OWASP basics, authentication/authorization, secrets management).

• Proficient in SQL and relational data modeling; experience with data-heavy systems is advantageous.

• Daily use of AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar) at a production level.

• 3 to 5+ years of experience leading engineering teams, preferably in distributed and multicultural environments.

• Demonstrated experience in conducting 1:1 meetings, performance reviews, career planning, hiring, and navigating difficult conversations.

• Strong skills in prioritization and stakeholder management.
