This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Lead a group of 3-4 software engineers to ensure the consistent and timely delivery of high-quality features and products.
• Take ownership not only of timely delivery but also of validating that the solutions the team produces effectively meet the needs of our customers and operators.
• Promote a culture of building, testing, and learning – focusing on shipping practical MVPs and iterating based on feedback instead of waiting for perfect requirements, while helping the team remain effective in uncertain conditions.
• Encourage seamless collaboration across the stack and reduce serialized hand-offs, facilitating a workflow without "throw it over the wall" delays.
• Advocate for and implement robust engineering methodologies and practices.
• Establish the team's standards for AI-assisted development, guiding engineers in the use of AI coding tools (such as Claude and Copilot) to enhance prototyping, code reviews, debugging, and documentation, while smoothing the path for adoption.
• Assist your team in developing sound judgment regarding where AI tools genuinely provide value and where they may fall short, ensuring high quality standards are maintained.
• Adjust the team's processes as AI-assisted development influences work velocity, using metrics to inform these adjustments.
• Mentor team members as they expand their skills and take on increased responsibilities.
• Collaborate with product managers to grasp requirements, prioritize backlogs, and establish timelines.
• Share responsibility for business metrics alongside product managers and cross-functional business partners.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a front-line manager in a high-growth organization.
• At least 5 years of experience as an individual contributor.
• Proven experience in front-end or full-stack development.
• A successful track record of integrating AI-assisted development within your team to achieve real throughput, beyond merely acquiring tool licenses.
• Sufficient familiarity with AI-powered features (such as LLM API integrations, RAG, and AI-driven automation) to credibly scope, estimate, and make architectural decisions with your team.
• Experience working with both monolithic and microservices architectures – bonus points for the ability to advise on when to use each approach.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the capability to align distributed, cross-functional teams.
• Strong sense of ownership in delivering the right solutions with high quality.
• A general curiosity and comfort in navigating a rapidly evolving AI landscape.
• Bonus: experience within the Python web development ecosystem (including frameworks like Flask, Django, Celery, etc.).
• Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage, with company contributions towards premiums.
• Generous time off policy, including 20 days of paid vacation, 5 sick days, 12 company holidays, and 2 floating holidays.
• Generous paid parental leave of up to 13 weeks.
• 401(k) plan with employer contribution matching.
• Remote-first work environment, with our headquarters located in Austin, TX.
• A collaborative, low-ego team that values intellectual curiosity and continuous improvement.
