Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Zealand.

📋 Description

• Lead and mentor a team of engineers, offering guidance, feedback, and daily support while cultivating a robust engineering culture.

• Actively participate in the design, development, and delivery of high-quality applications and APIs, maintaining hands-on involvement in architecture and coding as necessary.

• Facilitate technical discussions and provide leadership on architecture, scalability, quality, and best practices in engineering.

• Assist in execution by eliminating obstacles, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring the team can deliver consistently and sustainably.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering, including leadership in technical direction and production system delivery.

• Proven experience in guiding engineers through coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluations, with prior experience in people management preferred.

• Strong technical credibility, demonstrating the ability and willingness to write code, review designs, and lead implementation specifics.

• Experience in balancing leadership, technical decision-making, and delivery management within a contemporary software engineering framework.

• A passion for addressing complex challenges that contribute to people's safety.

• A collaborative leadership approach, emphasizing team empowerment, ownership, and accountability.

• Experience with extensive code-base products or enterprise-level software, valuing quality, maintainability, and operational excellence.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms, with a preference for experience in AWS.
