This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Develop and refine the strategy for AI, automation, and software engineering, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer requirements.
• Convert business challenges into a well-defined technical roadmap and prioritized initiative portfolio.
• Identify and evaluate emerging technologies, particularly AI and automation solutions within the Microsoft and Azure ecosystem.
• Propel internal transformation by automating manual processes and fostering data-driven decision-making.
• Facilitate the adoption of AI and automation securely and responsibly, ensuring adherence to compliance and governance standards.
• Serve as a senior technical representative, enhancing communication between engineering teams and the broader business.
• Develop business cases for new initiatives and aid in obtaining stakeholder and leadership approval.
• Provide updates and report progress to senior stakeholders, contributing to regular review sessions.
• Establish and nurture relationships with internal teams, customers, partners, and suppliers.
• Lead, mentor, and cultivate a multidisciplinary engineering team, promoting performance and development.
• Assist in recruitment and onboarding as the team grows.
• Foster a collaborative team environment with an emphasis on quality, delivery, and continuous enhancement.
• Aid in resource planning and workload management across various initiatives.
• Remain actively involved when necessary, contributing to solution design and supporting delivery.
• Assist in defining technical architecture and best practices across the portfolio.
• Uphold engineering standards related to quality, testing, security, and delivery processes.
• Help resolve complex technical challenges as needed.
• Oversee and maintain the engineering roadmap across various projects and initiatives.
• Support agile delivery across multiple workstreams, including planning and prioritization.
• Contribute to the enhancement of delivery processes, standards, and documentation.
• Assist in reporting delivery metrics, progress, and results.
• Aid in the development of internal solutions into commercially viable products.
• Contribute to proposals, go-to-market strategies, and overall service development.
• Help define and assess the value of innovation and automation initiatives.
• Proven technical leadership experience, with the capability to balance strategic planning and execution.
• Strong understanding of the Microsoft and Azure ecosystems, encompassing AI, automation, and software development.
• Background in contributing to solution architecture and designing scalable, secure solutions.
• Knowledge of AI and automation technologies and their application in a business setting.
• Experience in managing and developing technical teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities, including engaging with senior audiences.
• Commercial insight and interest in leveraging technology to generate business value.
• Experience in agile delivery environments across multiple workstreams.
• Familiarity with regulated environments and related security and compliance requirements.
• Practical and solution-oriented mindset, with the ability to adapt to shifting priorities.
• Experience leading engineering or technical teams in Microsoft or Azure-centric environments.
• Proven track record of delivering AI, automation, or software solutions from start to finish.
• Strong hands-on technical expertise with the capability to stay engaged in delivery.
• Experience in IT services or similar environments is preferable.
• Background working with public sector or regulated customers is advantageous.
• Exposure to agile delivery methodologies and tools such as Azure DevOps.
• Microsoft Azure certifications are preferred but not mandatory.
• Eligibility for UK security clearance is desirable.
