Engineer II – Virtualization

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create and sustain intricate technical systems architecture while offering suggestions for enhancement.

• Oversee and facilitate large-scale production deployments of servers and applications within internal datacenters.

• Manage Linux systems across thousands of bare metal servers and virtual machines.

• Design and enhance scripts, automation tools, and operational workflows utilizing Python, Go, and PowerShell, incorporating AI tools where relevant.

• Diagnose issues related to server hardware, hypervisors, and infrastructure.

• Engage in on-call rotation with incident management duties, including responding through PagerDuty, troubleshooting with or without runbooks, and contributing to post-mortem analyses.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science.

• Familiarity with infrastructure technologies at scale, including Linux, Windows, VMware, Docker, and Kubernetes.

• Practical experience managing large-scale OpenStack environments in a production setting.

• Experience with VMware vCenter/ESXi management at scale, including HA, DRS, and vMotion.

• Understanding of L2/L3 networking, VLANs, bonding/LACP, BGP, and DHCP.

• Experience in configuration management with tools such as Puppet, Chef, or Ansible.

• Proven ability to write technical documentation.

• Demonstrated experience using AI technologies to improve decision-making, streamline workflows and processes, enhance efficiency, and drive business results.

• Familiarity with vSphere Lifecycle Manager (vLCM).

• Knowledge of bare metal provisioning using OpenStack Ironic or Bifrost.

• Understanding of block storage solutions like TrueNAS, Ceph/Rook-Ceph, or Dell PowerFlex.

• Knowledge of networking protocols (DNS, HTTP, SMTP, SNMP) and the OSI model.

• Familiarity with monitoring solutions such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Zabbix.

• Understanding of CI/CD and configuration management tools (GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, Chef, Ansible, Salt).

• Strong self-learning capabilities, with the ability to take initiative in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.

• Ability to work effectively and professionally with cross-functional groups globally as part of a team.

• Team player with a positive attitude, flexible in collaborating with a distributed team across multiple time zones.

• Must possess meticulous attention to detail and the capability to make sound, timely decisions.
