Energy Efficiency Engineer I

📋 Description

• Act as the technical lead for Power TakeOff’s Virtual Commissioning (VCx) and Virtual Strategic Energy Management (vSEM) initiatives.

• Offer technical assistance for new energy management projects.

• Serve as the primary knowledge expert in HVAC, controls, and best practices for energy efficiency.

• Guide clients in large commercial, institutional, and manufacturing settings on optimal control strategies and low or no-cost energy efficiency opportunities.

• Collaborate with Energy Advisors and vSEM coaches to analyze interval energy usage data to pinpoint key energy usage drivers.

• Identify low- and no-cost energy-saving measures during virtual consultations with commercial and industrial clients.

• Support vSEM coaches in creating technical materials for ongoing workshops.

• Conduct research and document internal technical resources and best practices.

• Oversee Energy Advisor performance and work with the Technical Team manager to pinpoint training and professional development requirements.

• Team up with the internal Measurement and Verification team to assess and relay performance outcomes.

• Aid Energy Advisors and vSEM Coaches in addressing technical customer concerns.

• Engage in training and enhance technical skills for contributions beyond VCx and vSEM.

• Report to the Senior Energy Efficiency Engineering Manager within the Portfolio Management team.

⛳️ Requirements

• PE (US) or P. Eng. License, or engineer-in-training status from an accredited engineering program.

• Bachelor’s degree.

• Over 3 years of experience in energy advising, utility DSM program delivery, or SEM coaching for large commercial facilities or institutions/campuses.

• Experience in implementing energy efficiency solutions pertaining to HVAC design, HVAC management, or BAS controls programming.

• Technical expertise in commercial HVAC systems, including HVAC, controls, and lighting.

• Strongly preferred: significant knowledge of industrial/manufacturing facility operations.

• Preferred: hands-on field experience at industrial facilities and familiarity with BASs for commercial or institutional buildings.

• Excellent facilitation and communication skills for delivering technical information to non-technical audiences.

• Strong analytical abilities and experience in data interpretation.

• Exceptional project management capabilities.

• Proficient with Salesforce or similar CRM tools.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science is preferred.

• CEM, CxA, BCxP, CPE, or equivalent certification is preferred.

• A passion for energy efficiency consulting and a desire to make a positive impact.

• Comfortable working independently in a fully virtual environment.
