This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Provide support to a significant civilian federal agency while overseeing data engineering projects throughout LMI as necessary.
• Enhance and upgrade data pipelines to boost performance, scalability, and long-term viability.
• Create and implement new data tools and solutions to address reporting, analytics, and business requirements.
• Act as the principal Data Architect, steering tool development, solution execution, and innovation within the division.
• Utilize functional knowledge of energy-related operations to guide architecture, analytics, and solution design.
• A bachelor’s degree in data science, mathematics, statistics, economics, computer science, engineering, or a related business or quantitative field.
• A comprehensive working knowledge of data analysis, automation, dashboards, databases, cloud data tools, APIs, and lightweight application or scripting methods.
• Proficiency in using technical tools such as Python, JavaScript, Google Apps Script, SQL, BI platforms, or cloud data services to enhance reporting, analysis, or operational processes.
• Familiarity with data pipelines and data transformation principles, including data ingestion, validation, reconciliation, refresh processes, and documentation.
• Capability to assess existing tools and workflows, pinpoint technical risks or inefficiencies, and propose practical enhancements across various technological alternatives.
• Ability to collaborate with analysts, developers, data engineers, and non-technical stakeholders to define requirements, evaluate solution options, and facilitate implementation.
• Competence in articulating technical work in clear terms, encompassing the addressed problem, utilized tools, served users, considered trade-offs, and maintenance strategy.
• Preferably, experience in federal consulting.
• Experience with Google Workspace, particularly Google Sheets and Google Apps Script.
• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform, BigQuery, or similar cloud database environments.
• Exposure to BI or visualization tools such as Looker Studio, Tableau, Power BI, MicroStrategy, Qlik, or equivalent platforms.
• Knowledge of REST APIs, JSON, web technologies, ETL tools, or advanced analytics techniques.
• Experience in modernizing manual, spreadsheet-based, or legacy reporting processes into more reliable and scalable systems.
• Experience with federal energy or sustainability data processes.
