Eligibility Worker – Public Benefits Specialist, English/Chuukese Bilingual Required

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon.

📋 Description

• Carry out eligibility assessments, re-evaluations, periodic reviews, and updates for the Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS), Oregon Health Authority (OHA), and Department of Early Learning and Care (DELC) programs, which include SNAP, medical benefits, Medicaid Long-Term Care Financial Eligibility Benefits, Medicare Savings Plans, Employment Related Day Care, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, Temporary Assistance for Domestic Violence Survivors, Able Bodied Adults without Dependents, and various cash benefits.

• Oversee and manage all active ABAWD cases statewide to ensure that recipients comply with work requirements.

• Conduct interviews via phone or in-person with Oregonians, gathering household information, current income, available resources, and other applicant details.

• Process data efficiently to guarantee the timely delivery of benefits and services.

• Ensure that service delivery is executed in a culturally competent manner; provide communication to Oregonians in their preferred language or format.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be bilingual in English and Chuukese and successfully pass the language assessment.

• A minimum of one year of experience at the Human Services Specialist 1 level for the State of Oregon; OR

• Two years of experience engaging with the public, offering assistance, and interpreting and applying policies, rules, or guidelines; OR

• An associate degree in Behavioral Science, Social Science, or a closely related area, coupled with six months of experience working with the public, providing assistance, and interpreting and applying policies, rules, or guidelines; OR

• An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience relevant to the class concept.
