This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Oversees the installation of electrical systems in the field, including MCCs, VFDs, motor wiring, instrumentation, grounding, lighting, and cable tray systems.
• Manages the resolution of technical issues on-site and engages in field fitting when design conflicts occur.
• Responsible for analyzing and interpreting electrical single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, loop drawings, and equipment datasheets.
• Leads the creation and review of RFIs and requests for field changes.
• Collaborates with specialists in instrumentation and automation for integration and commissioning processes.
• Participates in the testing and pre-commissioning of electrical systems.
• Monitors construction work to ensure compliance with design intent and relevant standards.
• Oversees electrical QA/QC activities and assists with the preparation of turnover documentation.
• Contributes to the commissioning and startup of electrical systems, ensuring they function correctly and meet performance standards.
• Offers technical guidance to contractors and field personnel regarding electrical tasks.
• Provides troubleshooting support for electrical system failures during both construction and post-installation phases.
• Conducts risk assessments and identifies hazards associated with electrical activities.
• Manages the development and presentation of detailed technical reports, proposals, and documentation for stakeholders and project teams.
• Actively participates in project meetings, contributing to planning, risk management, and safety evaluations.
• Capable of performing fieldwork in all weather conditions.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
• Professional Engineer designation required.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline.
• 5-8 years of experience in electrical engineering, ideally within mining or heavy construction sectors.
• Strong expertise in low- and medium-voltage systems, control wiring, grounding, and instrumentation.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical drawings and control system architecture.
• Experience in supporting field fitting and managing construction-driven modifications.
• Familiarity with MSHA, NEC, and NFPA 70E regulations and safety practices.
• Exceptional interpersonal, documentation, and field coordination abilities.
• Comprehensive understanding of mining, milling, and maintenance operations.
• Proficient with electrical design software applications (such as AutoCAD, ETAP, etc.).
• MSHA 5000-23 certification is mandatory.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
• Capacity to work independently as well as part of a team.
