Electrical Estimator – Federal Sector

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Responsibilities and Duties

• - Prepare comprehensive conceptual, design, and construction cost estimates for federal building initiatives.

• - Review construction drawings, specifications, and scope documents to generate precise quantity takeoffs.

• - Create Independent Government Estimates (IGEs) and assist in budget planning activities.

• - Evaluate contractor bids, change orders, and cost proposals for reasonableness.

• - Utilize industry estimating databases such as RSMeans and other estimating software.

• - Compile cost reports, estimate narratives, and supporting documentation.

• - Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and government clients throughout the project development process.

• - Identify cost risks, escalation factors, and opportunities for value engineering.

• - Stay updated on federal construction standards, procurement practices, and market pricing.


⛳️ Requirements

• Qualifications and Skills

• - **Bachelor's degree** in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, or a related technical discipline.

• - **At least 7 years of professional electrical estimating experience** in support of commercial, institutional, or federal construction projects.

• - Proven experience in preparing detailed electrical estimates for vertical building construction projects.

• - Strong knowledge of electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, telecommunications, and low-voltage systems.

• - Proficient with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.

• - Experience in interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.

• - Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

• Preferred Qualifications

• - Experience with **federal government construction projects** (GSA, VA, USACE, NAVFAC, DoD, DHS, or similar agencies).

• - Familiarity with CSI MasterFormat, Uniformat, and federal cost estimating practices.

• - Experience in preparing Independent Government Estimates (IGEs).

• - Knowledge of RSMeans, CostWorks, Success Estimator, MII, or similar estimating platforms.

• - Professional certifications such as **AACE, ASPE, CPE, CCP,** or PMP are advantageous.
