This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings and/or site visits to verify necessary take-offs.
• Analyze proposal specifications and drawings to establish estimates for industrial electrical projects.
• Focus on new construction as well as retrofit enhancements.
• Create project takeoffs, submittals, and proposals.
• Solicit quotes from vendors regarding equipment and materials.
• Ensure the timely completion of all documents required by clients.
• Prepare drafts for scope inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications related to estimates.
• Recognize and fulfill customers’ needs, expectations, and requirements.
• Interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, vendors, clients, and others.
• Maintain organized files of working documents as a backup for estimate figures, including information on supplier pricing obtained through direct contact, sales brochures, price lists, software uploads, etc.
• Provide support to other departmental personnel as needed; this may include assisting with estimates in other disciplines.
• Undertake additional tasks as directed by the supervisor.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the industrial electrical sector.
• At least 2 years’ experience in construction estimating.
• A Journeyman Electrician license is preferred.
• Comprehensive knowledge of electrical systems, codes, and standards.
• Familiarity with NECA rates, structures, and their shortcomings.
• Knowledge of NEC/NFPA-70E standards.
• Understanding of the material quoting process, RFQs, and vendor interactions.
• Capability to address and escalate specification conflicts, drawing inaccuracies, or other inquiries arising from the drawing package.
• Familiarity with estimating/installing various types of electrical raceway, including cable tray, EMT, rigid, IMC, and plastibond, along with all associated fittings and appurtenances.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical and automation construction drawings, wiring details, installation details, P&IDs, layout drawings, panel drawings, BOMs, etc.
• Ability to comprehend complex construction specifications as they relate to electrical, automation, and control-related mechanical means and methods.
• Background in automation and controls, including PLCs, instrumentation, valves, mechanical control panels, and electrical control panels, is a plus.
• Experience in semiconductor and cleanroom environments is advantageous.
• Proficient in software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.), Microsoft Teams, AutoCAD/AutoCAD LT, and Adobe Acrobat/Bluebeam.
• Advanced/Expert level experience in Accubid, including database setup, project management, custom assemblies, labor rates, difficulty modifiers, LiveCount, etc.
• Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• Ability to effectively communicate with customers, contractors, owners, and specialty equipment suppliers to ascertain scopes of work and necessary materials/equipment.
• Capability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, adjusting priorities as needed.
• Must be self-motivated, proactive, and an effective team player in a remote work environment.
