eLearning Instructional Designer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Create and develop thorough eLearning materials (courses, games, simulators, and assessments) utilizing AI tools for content generation, visualization, and interactivity, ensuring seamless integration with the Learning Management System (LMS).

• Apply online andragogy, instructional design, and principles of adult learning while leveraging AI capabilities to improve content creation and delivery.

• Utilize AI writing tools (such as KnowBe4 AIPortal, ChatGPT, Claude) to compose course scripts, scenarios, assessments, and learning activities.

• Demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with various levels within the organization, fostering relationships, actively listening, and assisting team members or subject matter experts (SMEs) in transforming concepts (including AI-generated content) into engaging and effective online courses.

• Develop storyboards in a standardized format that strategically incorporate AI-generated content components and respond promptly to feedback from quality assurance and leadership.

• Employ AI tools to aid in crafting robust knowledge checks for formative assessments, along with solid summative assessments.

• Stay updated with emerging AI technologies pertinent to eLearning development.

• Exhibit strong communication skills: written (including editing and proofreading), verbal, and presentation (including visuals), particularly in articulating how AI enhances instructional content.

• Demonstrate the ability and experience to effectively utilize necessary technology tools (MS Word, Gmail, Basic HTML/JavaScript) alongside AI content creation tools and platforms.

• Assess AI-generated content for quality, accuracy, and alignment with learning objectives, ensuring compliance with copyright and intellectual property considerations before integration into courses.

• Document best practices; research and suggest enhancements to AI content creation workflows to improve quality and efficiency.

• Create templates and frameworks that can be consistently applied when using AI writing tools and assist publishers in their utilization.

⛳️ Requirements

• A B.A. or B.S. in Adult Education, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or comparable work experience is required.

• An M.S., M.A., or M.Ed. in Instructional Design or Instructional Technology, or equivalent work experience, is preferred.

• At least 2 years of experience with instructional design best practices (storyboarding for online content).

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in creating complex assessment items for both formative and summative purposes.

• At least 2 years of experience in developing engaging and interesting online courseware (preferably in a corporate setting).

• Familiarity with Web Accessibility Standards (Section 508 & WCAG 2.1).

• Experience with learning solutions for iOS, iBooks, Android, and other interactive media/mobile platforms and programming.

• A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in learning/online learning.

• Creative problem-solving abilities, adaptability, and a willingness to learn new AI tools.

• Experience with AI tools (e.g., ElevenLabs, Google Veo 3, HeyGen, Synthesia Midjourney AI, RunwayML, etc.).

• Ability to balance the efficiency of AI tools with pedagogical effectiveness.

• Critical thinking skills to evaluate AI outputs for educational appropriateness.

• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

• Capacity to learn and apply new tools, techniques, and processes quickly.

• Excellent listening skills to collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and other team members to incorporate their ideas and feedback.

• Strong problem-solving skills, especially in designing effective courseware for adult learners amidst distractions.

• Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

• Exceptional time and priority management skills.

• Proficient self-editor (though collaboration with a quality assurance team is expected).

• Interest in and familiarity with current communication and visual design principles relevant to adult learners.

• Understanding of gamification concepts and how to integrate them into online learning.

• General awareness of UI/UX accessibility needs and their relevance to adult learners.

• Curious, innovative, and creative mindset.

• Ability to craft assessment and knowledge check questions to reinforce learning and ensure retention/application of learned material.

• Build and organize effective prompt libraries for consistent results from AI tools.

• Proficiency in prompting, creating, and integrating AI-generated elements seamlessly with human-created content.

• Knowledge of best practices for AI content creation and curation in instructional design.
