ELA Associate Instructor, 9th - 11th Grade

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Collaborate in teaching three to four periods of ELA and take charge of classes when substituting for another instructor.

• Adhere to lesson plans while striving to meet high standards for instruction and student engagement.

• Utilize Brightspace, Nearpod, G Suite applications, Zoom chat, and various instructional technologies.

• Thoroughly read, understand, and practice lesson plans and materials prior to instruction.

• Modify pacing and activities to cater to the unique needs of students.

• Conduct open-door lunch tutoring sessions for Scholars.

• Foster a dynamic, engaging, and approachable classroom environment.

• Participate in scheduled meetings, professional development training, check-ins, and debriefs.

• Respond promptly to emails and Zoom chats.

• Meet with an assigned instructional coach at least twice during the semester and apply the feedback received.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant content area.

• Teaching certification, K-12 classroom teaching experience, and/or experience teaching at the college or university level.

• A reliable personal laptop that meets the essential technology requirements.

• Experience working with high school-aged students.

• Proficient in navigating technological learning systems.

• Strong expertise and knowledge in advanced high school-level English and Humanities subjects.

• A willingness to engage in discussions analyzing the historical and ongoing causes of societal issues and challenges.

• Preferred understanding and implementation of student-centered pedagogy.

• Preferred knowledge and experience with Universal Design for Learning (UDL).

• Preferred certifications, professional development course completions, and/or higher education in Instructional Technologies.
