• Assume interim leadership and senior individual contributor positions (e.g., Controller, Associate Controller, Assistant Controller) for institutions of higher education.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in accounting, possessing a comprehensive understanding of university operations, governance, and regulatory requirements.
• Lead the resolution of intricate financial reporting challenges and address financial inquiries through thorough analysis within general ledger and financial reporting systems.
• Exhibit intellectual curiosity and determination in uncovering the root causes of accounting or reporting discrepancies, reconciling data, and enhancing processes.
• Create project plans to tackle client challenges and sustain project momentum for the entire team involved.
• Train, mentor, and oversee client staff alongside Huron engagement team members, including junior resources as projects scale.
• Execute and/or supervise daily accounting operations, encompassing close processes, reconciliations, budget support, and financial reporting.
• Present financial data, findings, and recommendations to senior administrators and executives, clearly articulating both detailed analyses and broader strategic implications.
• U.S. work authorization is mandatory.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field from an accredited institution, or equivalent relevant work experience.
• An MBA or other relevant advanced degree in accounting or finance is highly preferred.
• A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is preferred.
• Extensive experience in accounting and finance roles within a consulting and/or higher education setting.
• Strong background in serving as a Program Controller, Accountant, Auditor, Assurance, or in Financial Reporting roles.
• Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial management.
• Practical experience with financial systems such as Ellucian/Banner, Oracle, Workday, or similar platforms.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% annually and work extended hours as necessary to fulfill client and project requirements.
