Editor – Weeklies and Special Projects

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Iowa.

📋 Description

• Supervise the weekly Iowa and Farm Forum publication.

• Accountable for the planning, editing, and production of six Iowa weekly newspapers and the Farm Forum.

• Ensure the products maintain consistent quality and performance.

• Provide editorial support within the Des Moines newsroom.

• Assist with significant coverage projects such as the Iowa State Fair, elections, and other high-volume initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor's or master's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field, or a comparable combination of education and experience.

• Strong news judgment along with editing capabilities.

• Exceptional skills in copy editing and headline creation.

• Experience in planning, curating, and packaging content effectively.

• Capability to manage multiple deadlines and publications at once.

• Strong organizational and communication skills.

• Familiarity with digital publishing tools and audience-centric journalism.

• Ability to collaborate effectively across various newsrooms and teams.

• Experience in local journalism is preferred.

• Experience in editing community, agricultural, or weekly newspapers is a plus.
