Editor in Chief, Forest Science

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Establish the strategic vision for the Journal

• Increase submissions and engage qualified authors and reviewers

• Collaborate with SAF’s leadership and stakeholders

• Address in-process manuscripts and manage the review workflow

• Assess and deliver final editorial decisions

• Identify opportunities for special supplement sales and sponsorships

• Participate in and lead annual meetings during SAF’s national convention

⛳️ Requirements

• Current membership in the Society of American Foresters

• Residency in the United States is mandatory

• Proven track record of authorship in scientific papers published in peer-reviewed journals

• Background as a reviewer, editor, publication manager, and/or science communicator

• Preference given to candidates with prior experience as associate editors or editors in forestry journals

• Advanced degree (ideally a PhD) in forestry or a related discipline

• Comprehensive understanding of forestry and associated natural resources

• Established connections within academia, industry, and federal agencies

• Competence in cloud-based computing, email, Microsoft Office Suite, and web-based applications

• Familiarity with manuscript and peer review management systems
