This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Hawaii.
• Assist with a diverse array of projects for both private and government clients across the U.S. and globally.
• Conduct and assess ecological risk evaluations in accordance with regulatory guidelines and project-specific plans.
• Create Risk Assessment Work Plans and assist in the development of Sampling and Analysis Plans/Quality Assurance Project Plans.
• Collaborate with internal project teams, including overseeing junior staff assignments.
• Generate technical deliverables, compose reports, and execute or evaluate risk assessment calculations.
• Participate in proposal writing and business development efforts, including defining scopes of work and preparing cost estimates.
• Provide mentorship and professional development to junior staff members.
• Stay updated on federal and state regulations and guidance related to risk assessment.
• Ensure work quality, quantity, and efficiency meet or exceed company standards.
• Carry out occasional fieldwork as required.
• BA/BS degree in Ecotoxicology, Ecology, Zoology, Environmental Science/Studies, Chemistry, Toxicology, Biology, or a related field, along with 6+ years of experience in ecological risk assessment within environmental consulting, or equivalent education and experience.
• U.S. citizenship is mandatory.
• A valid driver’s license is required.
• Must successfully complete AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review and background check.
• Practical knowledge of USEPA ecological risk-assessment guidelines.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills are essential.
• Proven experience in conducting food web and bioaccumulation assessments.
• Background in data analysis and applied statistics.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word is necessary.
• Familiarity with evaluating PFAS, PCBs, and lead is preferred.
• Experience with CERCLA, including Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, and ROD development.
• Background in site investigation, field sampling, and wildlife assessment.
• Experience with Navy or Department of Defense projects is advantageous.
• Familiarity with the Hawaii Department of Health and EPA Region 9 is beneficial.
• Experience working on projects in Hawaii, Guam, and other Pacific Islands is preferred.
