
Distinguished Engineer – BFSI CTO

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as the primary authority on BFSI (Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance) for the Business Unit, serving as the definitive voice on areas such as banking, capital markets, insurance, payments, and wealth management.
• Collaborate to develop and present engaging, unique BFSI Points of View (PoVs) on topics including core banking modernization, AI-driven underwriting, real-time payments infrastructure, open banking, ESG risk frameworks, and embedded finance.
• Lead advisory engagements with clients at the CTO, CIO, CDO, and Chief Risk Officer levels, assisting them in navigating technology strategy, architectural decisions, and transformation roadmaps.
• Serve as an intellectual partner to the sales team, influencing pursuit strategies, deal positioning, and executive narratives that appeal to discerning financial institution buyers.
• Drive the BFSI solution strategy in collaboration with practice leaders to ensure our offerings effectively tackle the real challenges faced by COOs at global investment banks or CDOS at leading insurers.
• Represent the organization as a keynote speaker, panel moderator, and thought leader at prominent BFSI events, including Sibos, Money20/20, FT Banking Summit, and various academic institutions.
• Establish an external advisory board comprised of BFSI executives and academics to consistently evaluate and refine our strategy.
• Mentor and enhance the domain expertise of client-facing teams on a global scale.
• Recognize market white spaces and convert them into pipeline opportunities alongside the sales team.
• Over 20 years of extensive BFSI experience, preferably as a former CTO, CIO, or Chief Architect at a leading global bank (e.g., JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, HSBC, Citi, Deutsche Bank) OR as a senior banker with direct technology oversight.
• Proficient knowledge of BFSI technology architectures, core banking platforms (Temenos, Finastra, FIS), payment systems (ISO 20022, SWIFT, FedNow), risk and compliance systems, and data/AI platforms.
• Proven capability to translate complex technical ideas into business value narratives that are easily understood by CFOs or Board Risk Committees.
• Direct experience in managing large-scale technology transformation initiatives within a global financial institution.
• In-depth understanding of the regulatory landscape — Basel IV, DORA, MiFID II, GDPR, SR 11-7, BCBS 239 — along with their technological implications.
• Preferred qualifications include being a published author, recognized speaker, or contributor to industry bodies (SWIFT, IIF, World Economic Forum Financial Services).
• An MBA or an equivalent advanced qualification in Finance, Computer Science, or Engineering is preferred.
