Distinguished AI Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with engineers, research scientists, technical program managers, and product managers to create AI-driven products.

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain AI software components, encompassing foundation model training, LLM inference, similarity search, guardrails, model evaluation, experimentation, governance, and observability.

• Utilize Open Source and SaaS AI technologies, including AWS Ultraclusters, Hugging Face, VectorDBs, NeMo Guardrails, and PyTorch.

• Innovate and implement cutting-edge LLM optimization techniques to enhance scalability, cost-effectiveness, latency, and throughput for production AI systems.

• Contribute to the technical vision and long-term strategy of foundational AI systems at Capital One.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field with a minimum of 8 years of experience in developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies, or a Master's degree in a related field with at least 6 years of experience.

• A minimum of 8 years of programming experience in Python, Go, Scala, or Java.

• Proven experience in deploying scalable and responsible AI solutions on cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, or equivalent private cloud environments.

• Proficiency in architecting, designing, developing, integrating, delivering, and supporting complex AI systems.

• Experience in developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies, including LLM inference, similarity search, VectorDBs, guardrails, and memory, using Python, C++, C#, Java, or Golang.

• Knowledge of techniques for optimizing training and inference software for hardware utilization, latency, throughput, and cost.

• A strong interest in keeping abreast of AI research and applying innovative techniques in production settings.

• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex AI concepts clearly.
