This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Carolina.
• Act as a proficient disaster recovery specialist, showcasing extensive experience in assisting local governments with long-term recovery efforts following natural disasters, while also serving as a hands-on project manager overseeing a dynamic and intricate disaster recovery process.
• Applicants will be required to utilize their knowledge of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Public Assistance (PA) Program - Permanent Work (Categories C-G), and understand how these can be strategically implemented to tackle complex challenges and needs in a post-catastrophic disaster context.
• Function as a subject matter expert on the FEMA PA Program and provide timely responses to policy-related inquiries.
• Lead a multi-disciplinary team that supports all facets of recovery (e.g., cost recovery, infrastructure redevelopment, economic development, housing, social services, etc.), assigning tasks, evaluating staffing requirements, and developing strategies to address unmet needs and optimize funding.
• Uphold strong project management practices, ensuring that the client remains informed about all efforts; delivering high-quality outcomes; and embodying Hagerty's core values of integrity, innovation, teamwork, and excellence in all activities.
• Previous experience supporting local governments affected by natural disasters through various federal disaster grant programs from the initial stages of a disaster to grant obligation and closure.
• At least four years (4) of experience with the FEMA PA Program, including Permanent Work (Categories C-G).
• Proven track record of managing complex and dynamic projects.
• High proficiency in written communication, with the capability to produce detailed and nuanced policy recommendation documents.
• Strong verbal communication skills, including the ability to present information effectively to senior stakeholders.
• Prior experience managing workloads for large, multi-disciplinary teams comprising individuals with varying expertise levels (from junior associates to senior subject matter experts).
• Strong command of MS Office applications, databases, and other software/technology platforms.
